Computers

The library provides twelve public workstations for public use by Margaret E. Heggan Library cardholders only. Each workstation features broadband Internet access as well as the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint). Each customer must have a library card and PIN to use a computer. Sessions are limited to 60 minutes when other customers are waiting to use a computer. Four computers are limited to use by customers age 17 and younger. Parents or guardians are responsible for Internet use by minors. Internet Guidelines are available at each workstation.

Library computers are filtered in compliance with the Computer Internet Protection Act, Pub. L. 106-554. Users 16 and under must use a filtered computer. Users 17 and over may request to have the filter removed.

Library Internet computers erase any documents, favorites, websites, etc. saved to any drive when the computer restarts. You may save to a floppy diskette, CD, or flash drive. Flash drives and floppy disks are on sale at the checkout desk.

Black and white printing is available at 15¢ per page. Color printing is available at 25¢ per page. Customers pay for all pages they print at a self-service print station.

Complete text of the Library Internet Use Policy is available at each workstation.
